Halt the press, Jesse Lingard just scored.
A day that some may have felt would never come again, but the ever-young Manchester United midfielder broke his long-standing goal-scoring duck against FC Astana in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Not exactly against Barcelona in the Champions League, but Lingard definitely won’t care. The England international has had a rough time of it over the past few months, going 28 games without a goal, and was in dire need of some good fortune.
Given the honour of captaining the Red Devils for the first time in his career, the 26-year-old capped off the occasion with a strike from outside the area after less than ten minutes of the game.
And after seeing him net for the first time since he did so in the FA Cup against Arsenal way back in January of this year, United fans flooded to Twitter to rejoice.

Many supporters of the Manchester side simply lost their minds at seeing the midfielder break the curse, with some jokingly saying “Messi Lingard” has now returned.
