As reported by TransferMarketWeb, Arsenal are interested in signing Juan Cuadrado when the transfer window re-opens in January.
What’s the story?
With the Gunnners still having not guaranteed the futures of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez at the club, they’ll need to be active in the next few transfer windows if they’re to add the quality they need to compete in the upper reaches of the English Premier League.
That may be why they’re considering a move for Juventus star Juan Cuadrado, according to TransferMarketWeb. They say the Colombian international is interesting the London club to give their attack a boost mid-season.
Can he do the job Arsenal need?
Good enough?
Juan Cuadrado would undoubtedly give a boost to Arsenal’s attack, which has looked a little one dimensional for a while, but in the same conversation with the likes of Alexis Sanchez or even Mesut Ozil, he doesn’t compare favourably.
He’s been an excellent squad player at Juventus for the past three seasons and featured heavily in their run to the UEFA Champions League final last term, but hasn’t contributed as many goals or assists as Arsenal’s star duo.
With nine goals and 18 assists for the Italian giants, he hasn’t completely misfired but Arsenal fans will surely be hoping they can attract a more prolific attacker to the Emirates.
Rated at £22m by Transfermarkt, he’d cost a fair amount too and at 29 years old, doesn’t have much potential return. As a short-term solution he could be a fine addition mid-season, but long-term the Gunners can do better.
